Silvana Lovin Philippoussis

Silvana Lovin Philippoussis

She's a model, an actress, a painter and a designer. Yet Silvana Lovin Philippoussis' greatest achievement to date is becoming a mother to her first child with husband, Australia's great tennis player, Mark Philippoussis. We talk to the highly talented Lovin about her different passions and plans for the new year.

After winning a modeling competition in the late 90’s, the Romanian born, Melbourne raised, and San Diego based exotic goddess has been dominating the fashion industry ever since.

With a list of runways and international magazines under her belt, Silvana has shot with some of the biggest names in Australia including Sass & Bide, Lisa Ho, Alannah Hill; as well as prestigious international labels ranging from Oscar Del La Renta to Versace and Chanel.

As an actress, she has appeared in films such as The Muppets Most Wanted, The Beast and had a role in US series Wilfred and more recently, she has moved into the entrepreneurial side with her husband (Australia’s greatest tennis player Mark Philippoussis), designing the women’s range for hubby’s Phlip Apparel’s SS16 collection.

Yet the creativity doesn’t just end there! Since she can remember, Silvana has always had a love for painting; so it was obvious that she teamed up with her talented best friend, model turned photographer, Rosanna Faraci for a photoillustration collaboration.

With a passion for creating things out of the box, Silvana and Rosanna are an artist duo to beat as rave responses to their collaborations are flying in left, right and center. Hoping to inspire and empower women, their next collaborations are currently in negotiations with several labels, including an exclusive, one off photoshoot for large canvas with Silvana’s incredible painting complimenting it.

Silvana has certainly seemed to do it all while juggling and maintaining an ever growing career as a model, actress, painter, designer, and did we mention she’s also a newly first time mother? ‘Busy’ would be a major understatement for this talented young lady.

We had to have a chat with the multi-talented wonder woman about her passions and inspirations so luckily, Silvana somehow found the time to fit in her busy schedule a Q&A with us.

You’re a model, actress, artist and mother. Is there anything you can’t do?!
Sing, dive, swim with sharks…ha!

How do you juggle motherhood on top of your incredible career?
I’ve been blessed with a wonderful career so far and am so grateful to be where I am right now. I’m fortunate enough to be in the position to choose the projects and jobs I now do, which is a luxury and definitely not something I take for granted. The time I spend away from Nicholas [son] and my husband is very precious. I also believe that a great support system is crucial when juggling full time mummy duties as well as a career. I’m blessed with an amazingly supportive family and friends to help me achieve my goals.

How did you get into modelling?
I got into modeling after my mother entered me into a modelling contest when I was 16 and I won. I was always a tom boy growing up and mum thought she’d try and get me to see a more feminine side. I guess it worked!

What would you say was your big break in your modelling career?
Traveling to New York and shooting a campaign with Oscar Del La Renta within a week of landing there was definitely a game changer for me I think. A week later, I scored an international campaign for Wella and booked quite a few shows during NYFW.

And you were also the face of Stonnington Spring Fashion Runway last year.
I’m so thankful to The City of Stonnington and good friend Valentina Jovanoska for appointing me as the “Face Of Stonnington Fashion Runway” last year. I loved working with the whole team and had a blast being back on the runway again.
